How admission works
Admission to Nova Recovery Center starts with one confidential phone call, and same-day or next-day admission is possible, depending on insurance verification, medical screening and scheduling.
From that call there are five steps: a confidential assessment, an insurance check that takes a few minutes, your admissions appointment, an in-person medical exam, and a detox plan your doctor writes from the results. Everything you tell us is protected by HIPAA and state law, and checking your benefits alerts nobody else.
Admissions are answered 365 days a year. We accept most major insurance, and offer self-pay, payment plans and guidance on scholarships where it does not cover everything. In Central Texas, residential treatment is at our inpatient rehab near Austin, on the Wimberley campus, and detox begins at our alcohol detox center in Austin with 24/7 medical monitoring.

What should I expect when I call?
The first call is a conversation, not an application. Its job is to work out whether this program is right for you, and many of the people answering it have been through something similar.
We can answer anything you want to ask about the treatment center, take down what matters, and look at what comes next, whether that is detox, rehab, therapy or a 12-step program. If you would rather see what happens after admission first, here is an overview of the addiction treatment steps.
-
Confidential assessment
A Nova team member gathers the details that show whether the program fits you, or the person you are calling about. We do not admit every caller: where somewhere else is the right place, we point you to it. Everything you say on this call stays confidential.
-
Quick insurance verification
Usually a few minutes, and your insurance company is told nothing else. Have your provider’s name, your member ID number, your date of birth and the provider’s phone number, which is on the back of your card. If you have no insurance, or a plan that will not cover treatment, we go through the other options with you, including paying through an EAP or an HSA.
-
Schedule your admissions appointment
Admission to the residential treatment center is by appointment. You meet the admissions staff and complete your intake paperwork, and you meet your recovery specialist or counselor later the same day.
-
In-person medical exam
Nova nurses go through your medical history, including past illnesses, injuries and medications, check for signs of withdrawal and take your vital signs, then review your substance use history and briefly your mental health history. You also see the staff psychiatrist and a licensed chemical dependency counselor, and a recovery specialist works with you through the program.
-
Individualized detox plan
Your doctor writes the plan from the results of that exam, and it is updated as you go through detox. Nova is mainly a drug and alcohol treatment center and also treats major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder. Where we cannot provide the treatment you need, we help you find the right resources.
Live in Austin? Your detox plan begins at our alcohol detox center in Austin, with 24/7 medical monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the admissions process for a drug and alcohol treatment center work?
At Nova Recovery Center, we start our admissions process with a private phone call. We assess your needs during this call. Next, we verify your insurance and complete the necessary paperwork. Finally, we create a personalized treatment plan for you. Once approved, you will come to our facility. There, you will meet your clinical team. You will also have a medical evaluation and orientation before starting treatment.
What should I expect during intake at a treatment center?
At Nova Recovery Center, you will have one-on-one assessments and interviews. These will help us review your substance use history, medical and mental health status, and goals. You’ll also complete necessary forms, health screenings, and an orientation to our facility and recovery process.
How long does the admissions process take before starting treatment?
Our enrollment process is designed to be fast and easy. You can get admission on the same day or the next day. The timeline depends on insurance verification, medical screening, and scheduling availability, but we aim to minimize delays so recovery can begin quickly.
Can I schedule a tour before checking in?
Yes, Nova Recovery Center offers facility tours to prospective clients and their families. Contact our admissions team to set up a visit. You can see our environment and meet our staff before starting treatment.
Is my information confidential during admissions?
Certainly. Every detail shared during your call, assessment, and intake is kept confidential. It is safeguarded by HIPAA regulations and state laws. Your privacy is our top concern during the admissions process.
What insurance and payment options are available?
We accept most major insurance plans and provide self-pay options, flexible payment plans, and guidance on available scholarships. Our admissions staff can verify benefits and assist you with financial planning before you begin treatment.
What factors determine eligibility for treatment?
Your qualification for Nova Recovery Center is determined through a confidential phone evaluation. We assess your medical background, substance use patterns, mental health concerns, and available support networks. This helps us decide the best level of care for you. This could be inpatient detox, outpatient care, or sober living. If San Antonio is most convenient, our detox in San Antonio, TX provides a safe start.
