Who we are

Nova Recovery Center is a Texas treatment provider offering medical detox, 90-day residential rehab, intensive outpatient and aftercare, and sober living, with clinical methods combined with holistic treatment and medicine.

We believe everyone deserves help to overcome addiction, and that the thing most people need is not a technique but resources, help and time. Our programs blend clinical skill with caring support so people heal physically and emotionally and stay sober over the long run.

Whether you are starting recovery or have been sober for some time, there is a level of care here that fits.

What we do

The founders built Nova to help people get past the personal barriers to recovery, using clinical methods alongside holistic treatment and medicine so that behavioral health and mental health are addressed together rather than in sequence.

Addiction usually comes out of trauma, emotion and learned behavior, and often sits alongside mental illness, so we look past the symptoms to find what a person still has. Support runs at every stage of recovery, in four forms.

  1. Medical detox

Medically supervised detox, tailored to what you are withdrawing from, so the first days are safe and as comfortable as they can be. Individual and group counseling starts here rather than after, which is what prepares you for the next stage.

    More on medical detox.

  2. 90-day residential rehab

Long-term treatment in Austin: a safe, organized place to heal for three months. You learn coping skills, practice relapse prevention and build the foundation the rest of it stands on.

    More on residential rehab.

  3. Intensive outpatient and aftercare

After residential treatment, IOP and aftercare in Austin and Houston keep the counseling going, with peer recovery support and groups that hold you connected and accountable as you return to daily life.

    More on intensive outpatient.

  4. Sober living homes

Sober living in Austin, Houston and San Antonio for anyone who needs longer: a friendly, drug-free environment with regular screenings and personal support, and a way into community groups that make healthy living ordinary.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nova Recovery Center

What levels of care does Nova provide?

A full continuum: medically supervised detox, 90-day residential rehab in Austin, an intensive outpatient program and aftercare in Austin and Houston, and sober living homes in Austin, Houston and San Antonio. The intent is that you are not handed off at the end of one stage with nowhere to go.

How long is the residential program?

Three months. As this page describes, that length is meant to give you time to learn coping skills, practice relapse prevention, and build a foundation that holds rather than to get you through a shorter stay.

What is the treatment approach?

Clinical methods combined with holistic treatment and medication where it is appropriate, addressing behavioral and mental health together. It goes beyond the 12-Step program to include trauma-sensitive practices, peer recovery support, physical wellness and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Who works there?

A multidisciplinary team of counselors, nurses, recovery advocates and administrative staff. Many of them are in recovery themselves, which this page gives as the reason they understand what clients are facing.

How do I find out whether my insurance covers treatment?

Our admissions team will check your benefits with your insurer and tell you what they say, at no cost and with no obligation. That is the only reliable answer, because what is covered depends on your specific plan.
