We make it simple
Admission to Nova starts with one phone call: a confidential assessment, insurance verified the same day, a level of care recommended by the clinical team, and your arrival scheduled.
Your treatment begins the second you pick up the phone. From the first conversation the focus is on you rather than on paperwork, and we work to make the admissions process, the payment plan and the onboarding as simple as they can be.
What we are matching is your situation to the option that will actually help, which is why the first call is a conversation and not a form.
- First step
- A confidential phone assessment
- Insurance
- Verified the same day
- Level of care
- Recommended by the clinical team
- If you have no insurance
- Self-pay and payment plans
The call is free and confidential, and it is a conversation rather than a commitment.
Before you arrive
Two things get sorted out before anything else: how you get in, and how it is paid for. Neither of them is something you work out on your own.
-
Our admissions process
Deciding to enter treatment is hard enough without a complicated admissions process. We walk you through every step, down to what to pack and what a day will look like. We start by learning your situation and finding the program that suits it, and we stay available for every question along the way, because we know how overwhelming this stretch is.
- Every step
- What to pack
-
Our payment options
Money should not stand in the way of treatment, so there is more than one way to pay and we go through all of them with you to find the one that fits your budget. Alongside private pay we accept a range of insurance policies, and we will help you apply for financial assistance if it comes to that.
- Private pay
- Insurance
Entering treatment is a huge life change, and being scared of it is normal.
You will have questions about your stay and about what happens before, during and after. Ask them on the call, free and with no obligation.

Your admissions journey
Reaching out for help takes courage, and the process on this end is built to be compassionate, confidential and quick rather than a test of how badly you want it. Four steps, in order.
-
Confidential phone assessment, 15 to 30 minutes
You speak directly with a licensed admissions coordinator who runs a brief, confidential assessment: your substance use history, any co-occurring mental health concerns, previous treatment, and what you need medically right now. The conversation is judgment-free and HIPAA-compliant, and your privacy is protected at every step.
-
Insurance verification and financial planning, same day
The admissions team verifies your benefits while you are on the phone, or within a few hours of the call. We work with most major insurers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and United Healthcare, and we help you get the most out of what you have. If you have no insurance, we go through self-pay options and payment plans built around your situation.
SAMHSA reports that insurance coverage for addiction treatment expanded significantly under the Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity laws.
-
Medical pre-screening and a level of care recommendation
From that assessment, the clinical team, led by board-certified addiction medicine physicians and licensed therapists, recommends the level of care: medical detox, residential inpatient, intensive outpatient, or the online telehealth IOP. We follow the American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria, so the recommendation is clinical rather than commercial.
-
Scheduling your arrival or first session
Once insurance is verified and the plan is confirmed, we schedule your intake. Residential clients at the Austin or Wimberley campuses get transportation coordinated if they need it and a detailed packing list. Outpatient and online IOP clients get appointment details and onboarding instructions. Most people begin treatment within 24 to 72 hours of the first call.
Step one is a phone call, and it is the only step you have to take on your own.
Free, confidential and available every day of the year.
What to have ready
Having these to hand when you call or arrive makes the intake shorter. Nothing on the list is a condition of being helped: if something is missing, say so on the call.
-
Documents
- Photo ID: driver’s license, state ID or passport
- Insurance card or cards, and your policy information
- Any court or legal documents about treatment requirements, if there are any
-
Medical
- A list of your current medications and dosages
- Contact details for your primary care physician or psychiatrist, if you have one
-
If you are staying
Residential clients get a detailed packing list on admission. Leave valuables at home and bring comfortable clothing, toiletries with no alcohol in them, and the personal things that make a strange place easier.
Frequently Asked Questions About Admissions
What happens during my first call to Nova Recovery Center?
During your first call to (512) 605-2955, a licensed admissions coordinator will conduct a confidential assessment lasting 15–30 minutes. You’ll discuss your substance use history, any mental health concerns, previous treatment, and current needs. We’ll verify your insurance benefits on the same call or within hours, and recommend the appropriate level of care (detox, residential, outpatient, or online IOP). Most clients schedule their intake within 24–72 hours of this initial conversation.
How long does the admissions process take?
The entire admissions process, from first call to treatment start, averages 36 hours at Nova Recovery Center. Insurance verification typically completes within 24 hours, and we can schedule same-day or next-day intake for clients in crisis. Our goal is to remove delays and connect you to care as quickly and safely as possible.
Do you accept my insurance?
Nova Recovery Center works with most major insurance providers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, and many others. We verify your benefits at no cost and explain your coverage, co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs before you commit to treatment. Call (512) 605-2955 or use our online insurance verification tool to check your plan in minutes.
What if I need detox? How quickly can I start?
If you require medical detox, our clinical intake nurse and medical director will conduct a pre-screening to assess your withdrawal risk and medical needs. We offer 24/7 medically supervised detox at our residential facilities in Austin and Wimberley, TX. Most clients who need detox can begin within 24 hours of their admissions call, and we coordinate safe transportation if necessary.
Can I tour the facility before I commit to treatment?
Yes. We welcome prospective clients and their families to tour our residential campuses in Austin and Wimberley, as well as our outpatient centers in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Colorado Springs. Tours are scheduled by appointment. Call (512) 605-2955 to arrange a visit. Virtual tours are also available for those unable to visit in person.
What if I’m calling for a loved one? Can you help me?
Absolutely. Many of our admissions calls come from concerned family members, friends, or employers. Our team can guide you through intervention planning, explain treatment options, verify your loved one’s insurance, and help you prepare for the conversation. We also offer family support resources and can connect you with our clinical staff for advice on how to approach your loved one with compassion and clarity.
Is the admissions call confidential?
Yes. All admissions calls and assessments are completely confidential and protected under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). We will not share your information with anyone without your written consent, except as required by law. Your privacy and trust are our top priorities.
What if I don’t have insurance or my insurance doesn’t cover treatment?
If you don’t have insurance or your plan offers limited coverage, we offer self-pay options and flexible payment plans. Our admissions team will work with you to find a financial solution that makes treatment accessible. We believe cost should never be a barrier to life-saving care, and we’ll explore every option to help you get started.
